Jewish tradition teaches that the reading of the Torah is a sacred and auspicious time to pray for those who are ill and to seek G-d’s blessings for their healing. For generations, it has been customary to recite the Mi Sheberach, a special prayer asking the Almighty to grant those who are suffering renewed strength, comfort, and a complete recovery.
May the One who blessed our forefathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and our leaders, Moses, Aaron, David, and Solomon, bless and heal all those who are ill. In their merit, and through our commitment to give charity without making a vow, may the Holy One, blessed be He, shower them with compassion and mercy. May He restore their health, strengthen their bodies, renew their spirits, and grant them the strength to overcome their illness.
May G-d swiftly send a complete healing from Heaven, a healing of the body and a healing of the soul, together with all those who are ill among the people of Israel.
And let us say: Amen.
